Winter Break Programs
Thursday, 12/26-Friday, 12/27 and Monday, 12/30-Tuesday, 12/31: Winter Holidays Around the World (Cooking) @ Harriet Tubman Cultural Center
We’re taking a trip, but there’s no need to pack your bags! We’ll be traveling all over the world learning about different countries and their cultures and winter holidays and traditions. As we make and bake delicious treats and dishes from all over the world, we’ll also be learning and practicing kitchen and cooking skills. Some of the countries we’ll visit are Poland, China and Russia. On Tuesday, we’ll spend the day exploring how different countries and cultures celebrate New Years. We hope you’ll join us for this exciting culinary winter holiday adventure!
Thursday, 12/26-Friday, 12/27 and Monday, 12/30-Tuesday, 12/31: Winter STEAM Extravaganza (Science) @ Roger Carter Community Center
Come prepared for an exciting time of winter themed challenges, activities and experiments. Use your designing and engineering skills to build the fastest sledding slope, a snow shovel with the largest load, and the strongest enclosure that will protect animals from the elements. Use the scientific method as you do experiments about melting ice and trying to keep the ice from melting. We’ll also use art to make a moving winter scene and one of a kind snowflakes. Each day will be fun-filled and different from the last.
